Dennis was the spiting image of his Dad, Adam. He had a great sense of humor and could hit a softball so hard it looked like it was deformed leaving his bat. His laugh was contagious and to be around him made life more pleasurable. When Dennis was with his Dad and they got on a roll, the laughter was so intense you would have a hard time breathing. As my older cousin he was one of my role models, he taught me to have a zest for life and to treat everyone with respect. When at his softball games, where he was always the star, one of the greatest pleasures I ever had was to get him a beer (Shaffer of coarse). Dennis knew that, and as such, him and his Dad, my Uncle Adam, would put me in charge of the beer, which back then the cans were made of metal and required you to open them with a can opener. Believe me that was a job, because those teams drank a lot of beer, so much so, I would go home with blisters on my hands. Dennis would tell me that I had the most important job on the team, I was in charge of the beer and when you are 7 years old, you take that to heart. But that was Dennis' nature, to make everyone feel important and wanted. No trait could ever be better and one I will carry on for the rest of my life thanks to him. Dennis was truly one of a kind. Dennis, Sally and Diane, I am sorry for your loss. Love, Michael
