EDD PAINTER Obituary

PAINTER

Rev. Edd Painter

October 5, 1926 -

February 23, 2022

Rev. Edd Painter, age 95, of Clarksville, Arkansas passed away due to complications of chronic heart failure. Edd was born on October 5, 1926 in the Waketon community west of Lewisville, TX as a twin to his parents James Wonnie and Carrie Hudson Painter.

Edd grew up in the Chinn's Chapel area which remained very special to him. He lived his childhood on a farm with his twin Fred, brother Sam, and sisters Wannell and Helen. Later in life he wrote a book detailing his experiences about growing up in a country setting and how much that impacted his journey in life.

Edd dedicated his life to public service, beginning with his enlistment in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He served as a mechanic and was proud to be a veteran.

When he left the service, he married Edith Frances Coulter on February 1, 1947. He and Edith have two children Sherra Painter Chrimes and Charles Edward Painter. They lived in Lewisville, Texas for several years when Edd received the calling to become a Methodist Minister. He pastored in Texas and Oklahoma. He also graduated from the University of North Texas and then received a grant to attend the University of Oklahoma where he obtained his Master's Degree. His family moved to Alva, Oklahoma where he taught geography at Northwestern Oklahoma State University and also pastored in Capron, Oklahoma.

He and Edith later moved back to Texas and he taught at Dewitt Perry Junior High in Carrollton, TX for a number of years.

He became very instrumental in the building and funding of the Log Cabin at the Chinn's Chapel Cemetery. He also was intimately involved in the Texas Historical designation of the Chinn's Chapel Cemetery and Chinn's Chapel Church.

He loved researching and compiling genealogical work for his familiy , the Chinn's Chapel Cemetery, Old Hall Cemetery and Flower Mound Cemetery. He was a truly GREAT man and an inspiration to so many. He had an impact on many lives and always had such a positive outlook which contributed to his long life. He loved his family and grandchildren and great grandchildren more than anything in this world. He touched so many lives but he was ready to be with the Lord and his bride and the love of his life, Edith Frances Painter. Just as our lives were so greatly enriched by him, so too is Heaven.

Surviving family members are daughter, Sherra Painter Chrimes and husband Fredrick Scott Chrimes of Clarksville, Arkansas and son Charles Edward Painter of Norman, Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Cara Lea Chrimes Graham and husband, Larry Graham of Scranton, Arkansas. John Edward Chrimes and wife Jamie of Wells, Maine. Samuel Edward Adams Painter and wife Claire of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Anna Lee Painter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
