CUNNINGHAM

Carol was born in White Plains, NY August 27, 1939. She is pre-deceased by her husbands, Francis S. Blair III and Donald J. Cunningham, her parents Kathleen and George Schmerer.

Carol is survived by her loving children, Francis Samuel Blair (Wilmington, NC), Catherine Higgins Blair (Oak Island, NC) and Elizabeth Ellen Blair (Winston-Salem, NC); her brother, George Schmerer (Wilmington, NC); step-children, Thomas Cunningham (and wife Joyce) of Rumson, NJ and Theresa A Mihalyi (and husband Joe) of Hamilton, NJ and her grandchildren, Leah, Meghan, Joey, Michelle, Kevin, Dylan, James, Brian, Kevin, Gillian and Owen; her niece, Carol Caione (and family) and nephew, George Schmerer (and family).

Carol had an extensive executive career in human resources and administration management with Sherwin Williams, Savin Corporation, Mercy Health Services and her own Consulting firm. Carol's volunteer work included work with her churches and other organizations to serve the underserved. In Wilmington, she served on the original board for Landfall (Secretary, VP, Treasurer and President) and with the Landfall Foundation.

Carol also enjoyed adventure travel, especially those made with her family and her beloved husband Don. Carol was blessed to have a strong core group of friends who supported and nurtured one another, and shared great times. She loved them all very much.

Special thanks to Dr. John Anagnost, Dr. Andre Leonard and to all the wonderful people at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

A Mass to celebrate Carol's life will be offered, Monday, July 9, at 10am, at St. Therese Catholic Church on Wrightsville Beach.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401 or Landfall Foundation 1924 Pembroke Jones Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28405.
