Betty Cooper Obituary

Betty Jane Cooper Betty Jane Cooper, 64, born January, 15, 1943, passed away June 4, 2007 at home with her family after an extended battle with cancer. She was born in Puerto Rico to parents, Ralph and Betty Jean (Spoonhoward) Wyke. She married William Tyre Cooper III in 1965. Betty Jane graduated from the Herman Hospital School of Nursing, Houston, Texas. She was blessed with so many good friends who enriched her life with joy, much laughter and many good times. She loved traveling and learning about new places. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed by so many. Betty Jane fulfilled her dream of being a RN and worked most of her life taking care of others. Betty Jane was preceded in death by her father Ralph Wyke. She is survived and will be missed by her loving husband William Tyre Cooper III, daughters, Misty Dunlap (husband, Adam, Bastrop, Texas) and Danielle Cooper (Highlands Ranch, Colorado); devoted "Grammy" to Brandon Dunlap (Bastrop, Texas), loving mother, Betty Jean Wyke, her brother Ralph "Buzz" Wyke (wife, Cheryl, Bellville, Texas). "God Saw You" God saw you were getting tired and your cure was not meant to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered, "Come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away, and though we love you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands were put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Cremation has taken place. Please join us for a graveside service at Woodlawn Garden of Memories, Inc. in Houston, Texas on June 16, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Betty Jane's name to the Hospice of Metro Denver, 501 Cherry Street, Suite 700, Denver, Colorado 80246.

I worked closely with Bill in Austin and Denver. BJ & the girls were always part of the gatherings and all will be missed. We even have daughters with the same name and age. BJ was always gracious and kind. "Think of them not as stars...them of them as porch lights welcoming your loved one home." How true in Texas.

Misty, Bill, Danielle, Adam, Brandon, and Ma -

I am so saddened by the loss of Betty Jane, or "mom." I have so many memories that I will treasure (like when Misty and I used to always "accidentally" wake her up when she worked nights.) I know this is an extremely difficult time for the family. I am thinking of you every day.

Bill and family,
My deepest sympathy in losing Betty Jane. I remember with fondness of our early days in Austin and camping/jet skiing on the lake. God has a very special lady in His hands. "Do not think of her as gone; she is with you still in each new dawn."

We were like sisters.... could be apart for a year or more and pick up where we left off and it would seem as though we had never parted....so many memories... nursing school together, nurses together at Heights Hospital, nurses together for Dr. Hess, together in Saudi Arabia, and the list goes on. I miss her greatly but am assured that I will see her again in Eternity with our Lord. I know there was rejoicing in Heaven as the angels escorted her in. Psalm..Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints..... truly, a saint has gone to our eternal home.

We knew Betty Jane as a kind, warm, loving, tender person, and, most of all, as a good friend. That is how we will always remember Betty Jane. We will miss her, but we know that she is now with God and surrounded with angels, like her.

With love, and with our deepest condolences to her loving family,

Betty Jane was my mother. My favorite memory of her would have to be before I was born. She wanted a baby girl very badly. They had been waiting on the adoption process for a long time and nothing was happening. My mother took the cat and dresses him up in baby girl clothes, took a poloroid and sent it to the adoption agency with the caption, "Please get me a baby sister quick so these people will stop dressing me up in these clothes!" I think this shows her devotion to being an awsome mom. I love you mommy!
