Dr. Ferrin treated 4 generations of my family. Weekends, nights, house-calls, he never failed us. He took his oath seriously and always with a little humor. He once spent an entire Saturday afternoon saving my left hand, after I had a mindless accident. He was the best of a very good generation.

When I moved to Austin, it took me several years and several Dr. to find the right one- Dr. Ferrin. He was truely the most wonderful Dr. I have ever had!
I'm sure he's up in Heaven smiling down at all of us! He will be greatly missed!

What a blessing to work for this beloved physician. He would just keep us laughing and smiling even though the days were long. He never turned anyone away and worked late every week night (except Wednesday) and also Saturdays seeing patients. He was the best diagnostician. Most of this came from asking the right questions and listening to the answers. Imagine a physician who listened, but that he did. He told me once that if people could learn to count their blessings he would be out of work. What an optimist! I learned so much from this wonderful man but mostly just how to count my own blessings and not fret over my life. I will miss his whistling, his humor, his limericks, but mostly his love for me and my family. Well coach, you taught us well. What a wonderful privileged to have known you. Thank you Lord for giving us this precious gift in Dr. Ferrin.

I, too, grew up with Dr. Ferrin, and he saw me through childhood sprains, or another time came to the hospital at 2am, even though there was no need, but he wanted to be certain. He never rushed a patient out of his exam room, and all were happy to wait (well, almost all, maybe). They don't make em like that much anymore.

Dr. Ferrin was a great doctor and good friend. When I met him for the first time ,he was so nice and polite and cheerful.I Think of all the times I was sick no appointment, he would allways work me in.I was really sorry when he retired ,it was hard to find another Dr. like Dr Ferrin. I am sorry to hear about his passing. I would like to extend my condolences to Dr Ferrin family and friends

On behalf of our Mother, (Barbara Moss)
deceased in 2005... I know she would want to express her deepest sympathies to the family of our sweet Dr. Ferrin.
She thought the world of him as do all of us in the Moss family. He took care of us from the time we were babies throughout all our growing up years, and ALWAYS made us feel better just seeing him walk in the exam room. We always looked up to him and respected him. He was not only our Doctor... he was our friend. On behalf of our family, the ones living and those that have passed... we love you Dr. Ferrin, thank you for all your care over the years. May God bless your family!!

Our Way

My thoughts at this moment I sadly extend,
To a sainted Doctor, Charles Ferrin, my friend,
A man who in life made an impression on me,
He was always a joy and a pleasure to see.

He was best of the best with a soft, gentle way,
Whenever I was with him he made my day,
Always there with an easy enlightening word,
There was never anything bad from him heard.

Shared his easy manner with those he did know,
To all of his patients his best side always show,
In practice of medicine great care he dispense,
With skill from heart with compassion immense.

I will miss my dear friend he was a mentor to me,
The very best of God’s Creation in him I did see,
The gentleness of his life he lived on this earth,
Have earned him in the hereafter Eternal worth.

All those who knew him will agree with that thought,
He was a shining example of what God has wrought,
So for those who are mourning this last I will say ---
How lucky we were this good man passed our way.

I easily can remember the days that Dr.Ferrin made house calls to our house, his jet black hair and his medical bag in hand..he would sit at the bedside or couch or where ever the sick child was..he was always so gentle and he loved what he was doing..helping someone in need..he would write his prescription out, give it to our Mother and then he would spent time assuring Mom that everything will be better soon and to call him 'anytime' and he would come over right away...the years and methods and office visits over house visits may have changed,,but being the honest, truthful caring Doctor he was,,Dr.Ferrin never did. That same Dr. Ferrin who was my Doctor at birth was the same Doctor that I saw when he told me he was retiring..Yes we shed a tear or two at the thought of how did 44+ years go by so fast,,but we had some really good laughs over some of the things I had gotten into or did that caused me to see him..well..now Dr.Ferrin is really retired now..his work on earth is done,Rest now my dear friend,I know Heaven is glad your home..The greens are really great there Doc..and the weather im sure is heavanly..Its Tee time at the greatest Golf Course ever, your playing with some of the greatest golfers ever Doc,also you will be in the presence of the Master..playing his course...The Masters...Thank you Dr.Charles Ferrin for everything,,I miss you so much..and I love you even more. Let us rejoice by having known him,and keep and share all he has left us. Remember it's not what you say or said that will a person be remembered, but its HOW that person made you feel. Warmest reguards,,Ray Moss

I loved him as did my entire family. Sorry he's gone. I enjoyed teaching his daughter at U.T. as well. He had a great sense of both general and medical humor which we shared on many an occasion in his office.

I absolutely was the most difficult person to treat, Dr, Ferrin always could calm me down. No one has been able to replace him. He was more than a Doctor. He had the most calming effect on you. Before you knew it, just walking in the office made you feel better. He will truly be missed! Jo Beth Limon and Family

We were blessed to have known Dr. Ferrin and been a part of his life. He was the brother that my mom never had: "Millie" enjoyed working with him those many years.

My heart goes out to Mrs. Ferrin, her lovely daughters and all the family.

God be with you!

With fondest memories: Dr. Ferrin delivered me at birth, x-rayed my sprained not broked ankle, removed a cyst from the bend of my arm and set a broken bone in my hand. The last 3 all from his office. I am sure there were other cares provided. He sets the standard for a family doctor which has never been equaled in recent times. My sister Lisa Grace and Flavia were classmates, gril scouts & friends at Eanes Elementary school in Austin. I send condolences to the family. Sincerely,

I cannot tell you how many times Dr. Ferrin saved me; I was a walking accident.
My mother (Shirley Davis) was Dr. Ferrin’s second patient. He delivered me and my sister, and miraculously removed my mother appendix, a week before I was born. I grew up had children, and they too came to know and love him as we all do. He was simply the best! Good thoughts and prayers go out to your family. You will be missed!

I adored this man! He took superlative care of me for literally 40 years. I will always remember and be grateful for his warmth, intelligence, caring and extremely wry sense of humor. And of course his humming while he did things like put in stitches!
