Clara Chen Obituary

Clara Chen Clara Chen was a dedicated wife of Dr. Ray Chen for 23 years and loving mother of three beautiful daughters: Pearl, Pauline, and Joann. Originally from Taiwan, she was born in January 29, 1959 and immigrated to America at the age of nineteen. She studied accounting in California before moving to Texas with her husband, who is a professor at UT Austin. She was a devoted and passionate Christian since the time of her youth; after marrying Ray, they served as founding pastors for Travis Christian Assembly in Austin. During her ministry, she reached and counseled many children and young adults in both America and abroad. She had a vision to build and foster authentic Christian communities where people could grow together in their understanding of God and each other. She treasured her relationships with people and always found time to help a person in need. While co-pastoring a local church, she also held a career as the President of research firm Omega Optics. She influenced, changed, and transformed many people's hearts during her lifetime. Whether someone met her once or spoke to her on a regular basis, they can all remember the lasting fingerprints she left on their lives. Clara was beloved by many people all over the world and she will always be deeply cherished in our thoughts and memories. The memorial service in celebration of Clara's life will be held at one pm on the twenty-second of August at Great Hills Baptist Church at 10500 Jollyville Rd. Austin, TX 78759. For those who wish, you may send contributions to the Clara Mission Fund at Travis Christian Assembly: 8304 E. Highway 290, Austin, Texas 78724. Contributions will be used to help children and youth in developing countries.
