Don Hoskins Obituary

Don B. Hoskins Sr. Don B. Hoskins Sr. passed away at the Retirement and Nursing Center in Austin, Texas, on February 19, 2008. Don was born as the last of seven children, on August 22, 1917 in Waelder, Texas to Conde Raguet Hoskins, Sr. and Lena Maria Walter Hoskins, both of Gonzales County. He attended the University of Texas, and married Miriam Blair Malloy "Mimi" on August 3, 1943. After WWII the couple resided in Corpus Christi and he operated an accounting, insurance, and used car business. The couple was blessed with three children Donald Blount Jr., Blair Thomas, and Conde Raguet Hoskins. Sadly Don Sr. was preceded in death by his wife Mimi in 1973, his eldest son Don Jr. in 1993, and his youngest son Conde in 1971. Don retired in 1979 and moved to Austin, where he met and married his second wife Elaine "Kitty" LaRue on July 4, 1982. Don entered the Retirement and Nursing Center in August of 2007. The Family would like to thank the staff of RNC for the kind and loving care he received during his stay. Also a special thanks to Dr. Tom Hill, Dr. Fran Sansteen, and Dr. Mary Maxwell for their continuous efforts and support during Don's illness. Don is survived by his wife, Kitty Hoskins; son, Blair; grandsons, Joel, David, and Myron; granddaughter, Rebkah; great- granddaughter, Alexia; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church 209 west 27th Street in Austin, Texas of Friday, February 22, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations in the name of Don Hoskins to be made to either Capitol Area Parkinson's Society P.O. Box 27565 Austin, Texas 78755-2565 or Austin Hospice 4107 Spicewood Springs Road Suite 100 Austin, Texas 78759.
