Reuben Krieg Reuben Krieg, 86, of Elgin passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Christopher House in Austin, Texas. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2009 at St. Peter's Church of Coupland. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Coupland. Reuben Herman Krieg was born on November 25, 1922 in Byersville, Texas to Alfred and Mary (Stauffer) Krieg. He was baptized on May 6, 1923 and confirmed March 21, 1937 at Evangelical Lutheran St. John's Church, New Bern, Texas. He grew up in the Byersville area. Reuben proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He married Frances Henze on March 17, 1945 and this marriage was blessed with three wonderful children. Reuben spent his life in the Coupland area for 50+ years farming, ranching and selling insurance. He was a member of St. Peter's Church of Coupland and was very active in his churches, serving as Treasurer for 16 years. He took great pride in his community and in the insurance industry serving on numerous boards and committees during his lifetime. Some of these include President of Coupland ISD, President of German-American Insurance for 17 years, Vice President of the Texas Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, and President of Manville Water Supply. Reuben was honored many times for his dedicated service to his work in the insurance industry and his community. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Reuben believed in hard work, love of family, integrity, and selfless service to God and community. His passion was going dancing with his wife and friends, playing dominoes and traveling to conventions. He enjoyed barbequing. He will be greatly missed by his many loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Elmer Krieg and Monroe "Lefty" Krieg. Reuben is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Frances Henze Krieg of Elgin; children, Glenn Krieg and wife, Cindy of Elgin; Linda Rowland of Austin; Dennis Krieg of Elgin; five grandchildren, Kevin Krieg and wife, Mona of Cedar Park; Lisa Pottle and husband, Mark of Keller; Jennifer Campos and husband, Raphael of Austin; Justin Krieg of Elgin, and Crystal Krieg of Austin; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Zachary Krieg, Kole Krieg, Jacob and Haley Pottle, Alyssa and Ayden Campos, a sister, Erlene Manhart of Taylor and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Kevin Krieg, Justin Krieg, Mark Pottle, Raphael Campos, Gene Henze, Michael Manhart, Kendall Eiben, and Pedro Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Stauffer, Herman Spoede, George Liardon, Jack Abrahamson, Roy Bockhorn, Edwin Krieg, and the Officers & Agents of German-American Farm Mutual. Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Church of Coupland or Christopher House Austin in Reuben's memory.
