Robert Williams Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

Robert H. Williams, Jr. Robert H. Williams, Jr., of Georgetown, Texas, died suddenly on August 7, 2005, from complications due to leukemia. A native Texan, he was born in San Antonio, Texas, on August 12, 1943. He married Claudia King of Corpus Christi, Texas, on February 18, 1966, and was the proud father of two sons, King Williams of Nashville, Tennessee, and J.D. Williams of Georgetown, Texas. He was a graduate of Trinity University and St. Mary s School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. From 1973 until 2001, he was a member of the Chicago Board of Trade, where he was a floor trader in the wheat pit. He was also a trader on the Kansas City Board of Trade from 2002 until 2004, as well as a member of the Texas Bar Association and the Harley Owners Group. Robert was diagnosed with cancer in 1996, and spent the rest of his life fighting to be with his family. He is now free of pain and med schedules and doctors' visits and hospital stays. Everyone who knew him will miss his wit and charm, candor, integrity and grit. He was the bravest man we ever knew, fighting the way he did for a normal life, and doing it for so long. His chief regret is that he will not be with his grandchildren as they grow up. He is sorely missed by his wife, Claudia, his sons King and J.D., his daughter-in-law Kimberly, his granddaughters Rachel and Holly, and his daughters-of-the-heart Emma Kim of Chicago and Emily Henson of Huntsville. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Robert and Anne Williams of San Diego, California, as well as his sisters, Jo Anne Hill of Lubbock and Margo Siekerka of Houston. Other family members include Dr. Jerry Hill, Luke Hill, Michael and Robert Siekerka, Lisa West and Rodney Benson, cousins Mack McAngus, his wife Becky and daughter Jessica of Sonora, Lessie Griffin and her children of Midland, Leon and Dorothy Lusk, and Gayle Girdley and her family of San Antonio. He will also be missed by his many friends in Chicago, Glenview and Evanston, Illinois, Kansas City, Missouri, and too many friends in Texas to list. A memorial celebration, including many tales about his adventurous and well-lived life, will be held on Saturday, August 13th, at The Dove s Nest in Waxahachie, Texas. Reverend Randy Scrivener of Colleyville will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Robert H. Williams, Jr., be made to The Caring Bridge [www.caringbridge.org].
