William Thomas "Billy" Sakewitz William Thomas "Billy" Sakewitz, 68, of Taylor, died in an Austin hospital Friday, September 2. He was born July 31, 1937 in Richland, Texas, the son of Alice (Krueger) and Gus Sakewitz. Mr. Sakewitz was a lifetime resident of the Taylor area, a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, St. Paul Men's Brotherhood, Yellow Catters, American Legion and the National Guard. He was employed by the Texas Water Resource Board as a water quality analyst and also had worked as a fingerprint expert for the Texas Department of Public Safety On September 14, 1957, he married Wandeen Walther who survives. Other survivors are daughter, Melanie Weise and husband, Jimmy of Taylor; grandsons, Drew and Dylan Weise; sister, Alice "Pug" Matetzschk and husband, Elton of Coupland; brothers, Kermit Sakewitz and wife, Betty and Harry Sakewitz all of Taylor; sister-in-law Katy Safarik and husband, Larry of Taylor; and sisters-in-law, Katherine Sakewitz of Austin and Joyce Sakewitz of Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Paul Sakewitz (1968) and three brothers, Sonny, Gus, Jr., and Kenneth. Funeral services will be Sunday, September 4, 2005 at 4:00 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. David Tietz and Rev. Jennifer Fuhr officiating. Burial will follow in Taylor City Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, Drew and Dylan Weise, and godson, Wade Long. Pallbearers are Bret Safarik, Kirby Sakewitz, Kent Safarik, Kenny Sakewitz, Ricky Matetzschk, and Mike Sakewitz. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association. Condra Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
