Heather Wallace Obituary

Heather Nicole Wallace

November 14, 1977 - December 17, 2014

Heather Nicole Wallace left her earthly body on Dec 17 2014, at age 37, and is now with us in spirit. Heather's bright beautiful shining light was needed to help all living beings in the universe. Heather was born in Simi, California, and lived in Denver, Colorado; Monmouth, & Portland, Oregon. Heather touched many, many, hearts. She appreciated so much in her life, and was meant to be with us for the time that we had together. Heather made everyone feel like a special friend. She truly cared about you as a person and accepted you, for who you are. Heather has left a profound mark on all of our hearts. We are all truly blessed by knowing Heather, as a dearly beloved daughter, friend, niece, cousin, neighbor, co-worker, and fellow volunteer (animal sanctuaries, shelters, and organic gardens). We will always remember, sharing a good laugh, her hilarious sense of humor, her beautiful smile, fabulous fashion-sense, and ultimate compassion to all animals. She loved dogs, being a vegan, the beach, good hair, tattoos, motorcycles, and having great times with friends and family. Heather was so much fun to be around. Heather moved from Denver to Oregon in 2013 with many goals and dreams - which she accomplished. Thank you for sharing yourself with Heather. She is survived by Cindy and Michael Martindale, Parents Monmouth, Oregon, Victoria and Dan Edwards, Aunt and Uncle Salem, Oregon, Jack and Frank Edwards Cousins, and other loving family members in Oregon, Florida and California. She is truly missed by her family and friends across the globe, but will never, ever, be forgotten. We love you, Heather. A memorial fund has been created to carry on her legacy of compassion for animals. Oregon Community Foundation, Attn: Fund Services, 1221 SW Yamhill St., Suite 100, Portland, OR 97205, c/o Heather Nicole Wallace Memorial Fund, www.oregoncf.org.

Arrangements for a private service have been entrusted to Farnstrom Mortuaries in Independence, Oregon, (503) 838-1414, www.farnstrommortuary.com.

I meet Heather in high school. We quickly became friends. We shared many experiences together over the years. The last time I had seen Heather was at a show an old band of mine was playing. We went to a late breakfast place here in Denver. Shared stories and laughed. I will never forget her wonderful laugh, or her beautiful smile. A piece of me is gone with her passing. Forever heartbroken. I will never forget her. And will always miss here. See you on the other side sister.

“Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” is a tune covered by Jerry Garcia and many others. Heather and I used to sing this song driving Pacific Highway 101 to the Beach. It is an American Spiritual song first recorded in 1909 and its roots go back to the Underground Railroad freedom movement as well as the Civil Rights folk revival of the 1960's.

A few days prior to Heather's passing, she hummed to me the first verse and I told her again how much we will always love her and gave her a goodbye kiss.

While Heather was not my biological daughter and I never wanted children of my own, when Cindy and I first met in Denver back in 1994, I quickly realized I hit the Lotto because Heather became my first and only child.

We thank you all for your support and May God Bless us All.

Lyrics to "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot"

I looked over Jordan and what did i see?
Commin' for to carry me home
There was a band of angels, a-commin after me
Commin' for to carry me home

Swing low, sweet chariot
Commin' for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Commin' for to carry me home

I'm sometimes up, and i'm sometimes down
Comin' for to carry me home
But but i know my soul is heavenly bound
Comin' for to carry me home

Swing low, sweet chariot
Comin' for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Comin' for to carry me home

If you get there before I do
Comin' for to carry me home
Tell all my friends that I'm a-comin' too
Comin' for to carry me home

Swing low, sweet chariot
Commin' for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Commin' for to carry me home!"
