I meet Heather in high school. We quickly became friends. We shared many experiences together over the years. The last time I had seen Heather was at a show an old band of mine was playing. We went to a late breakfast place here in Denver. Shared stories and laughed. I will never forget her wonderful laugh, or her beautiful smile. A piece of me is gone with her passing. Forever heartbroken. I will never forget her. And will always miss here. See you on the other side sister.

“Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” is a tune covered by Jerry Garcia and many others. Heather and I used to sing this song driving Pacific Highway 101 to the Beach. It is an American Spiritual song first recorded in 1909 and its roots go back to the Underground Railroad freedom movement as well as the Civil Rights folk revival of the 1960's.
A few days prior to Heather's passing, she hummed to me the first verse and I told her again how much we will always love her and gave her a goodbye kiss.
While Heather was not my biological daughter and I never wanted children of my own, when Cindy and I first met in Denver back in 1994, I quickly realized I hit the Lotto because Heather became my first and only child.
We thank you all for your support and May God Bless us All.
Lyrics to "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot"
I looked over Jordan and what did i see?
Commin' for to carry me home
There was a band of angels, a-commin after me
Commin' for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Commin' for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Commin' for to carry me home
I'm sometimes up, and i'm sometimes down
Comin' for to carry me home
But but i know my soul is heavenly bound
Comin' for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Comin' for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Comin' for to carry me home
If you get there before I do
Comin' for to carry me home
Tell all my friends that I'm a-comin' too
Comin' for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Commin' for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Commin' for to carry me home!"
