John Simpson Obituary
December 5, 1934 - January 23, 2015
John Alexander Simpson, 80, born in Henderson, MT but raised in Myrtle Creek, OR, died on Jan. 23, 2015. John was the youngest of 4 children and graduated from Myrtle Creek High in 1953.
John was proud to serve in the Marine Corps for 4 years. After the Marines, he attended Oregon State University and was a "Beaver" till the day he passed. John was a world-class runner at OSU and held several school records, as well as being considered one of the top 20 runners in the country.
He moved to Salem Oregon in 1964 where he met his wife, Rosemarie. Together, they started a small business and raised 3 boys. John was the founder and President of Touch of Mink for nearly 40 years, until he sold it to his long-time friend in 2010.
John loved and believed in People. Along with being a successful business man, John was known for his caring and generous spirit. He truly lived out his Faith and his belief to "Treat others better than yourself." John was also known for his sense of humor. He loved to laugh, and make others laugh as well.
John is survived by his beloved sister and best friend, BJ: his three sons: Brent, Darrick, and Todd (Julie); and his six grandchildren. If you had the chance to ask John what he loved most, he would have told you, "his family, Jesus, and chocolate".
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday Feb. 7, 2015 at 11:00 am at Harvest Bible Chapel in Scottsdale, AZ.

My childhood has fond memories of time spent with the "Simpsons", trips and gatherings. And one of my fondest is of John and his spider prank on a sleeping son. My thoughts and prayers are with you boys, as no words I can say can minimize your pain. And I am so sorry for your loss.

I worked for John when he first opened Mermac manufacturing. He always had a smile or a kind word to say to me.It was a pleasure to know him and his family. Rest in peace John you had a smile like no other.

John was a very special man. While I don't know his family, I know how much BJ loved and adored her brother. He will be missed, until we meet again. Prayers for his family.

I am a friend of one of John's sons. Though I did not get to know John well, I saw the results of his parenting. Raising children that follow God is the most important job a father can accomplish. Well done.
