Charles Peavey Obituary

PELL CITY - Funeral services for Charles Raymond Peavey, 80, were Wednesday, March 17, at 1 p.m. at Kilgroe Chapel. The Rev. Joey Rich officiated. Interment was in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Peavey died March 14, 2010. He was born in Montezuma, Ga., to Benny and Drucilla Peavey. He served in 82 Airbourne division, worked at Avondale Mills and retired after 42 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Hannah Peavey; his son, Steve Randall Peavey; his parents and three brothers, James, Bobby and Alec. Survivors are a son, Mark Anthony Peavey; two daughters, Donna Peavey Baker and Rita Peavey Alverson; sister, Gladys Peavey Spence; grandchildren, Jeffrey Baker Jr., Justin Baker, Rachel Baker, Brandon Alverson, and Heather Alverson; great-grandchildren, Brittany Baker and Emma Baker. Condolences may be offered at www.kilgroefh.com. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Safe Harbor Unit, Birmingham VA Medical Center, 700 19th Street South, Birmingham, AL 35233. On donation check put Charles Peavey on bottom of the check. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City directed the services.
