Ronald Simonick Obituary

Simonick, Ronald

Ronald F. Simonick, age 56, died with his wife by his side after a long and courageous 40 year battle with the effects of radiation treatment from his youth. He is now pain free in the arms of his Lord in heaven. Ron was born June 7, 1959 in Highland Park, MI to the late Frank and Lucille (Stimac) Simonick. His wife Diane and their children, Brian and Rachel, are in deep sorrow but rejoicing that he is with his Lord and Savior. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Waldrup (George), many nieces and nephews, as well as his wonderful and faithful service dog, Alvin. He is preceded in death by his brother Gary Simonick.

Ron was raised in Madison Heights, MI and graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1977. He went on to earn an engineering degree from Michigan Technological University in 1982. He and Diane (Grimes) married in Wayne, MI on April 16, 1983. Ron enjoyed a 22 year career with Kimberly-Clark Corporation which took he and his family to Wisconsin, Utah, and back to Stevens Point, Wisconsin where he medically retired.

Ron appeared to be quiet when you first met him, but his sense of humor, dry wit, and extensive knowledge would soon show through. His words were always carefully thought out and factually accurate. He had a way of helping others with their problems by cutting right through to the core of the issue. Ron was an engineer by occupation. In life, he was able to use that gift to help others. He lived by an "If you're going to do it, you're going to do it well" philosophy, so his help with something always involved lessons in math, science, patience, or love. He possessed the ability to repair almost anything, thus giving it new life. He had a passion for old trains and was able to ride on many throughout the country. His real joy came from teaching, loving, and inspiring his children.

Visitation is Friday, Nov. 6 from 4-8 pm at Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point, WI. The funeral will be held Sat. Nov. 7 at Shuda Funeral Chapel at 10:30 am, with visitation prior from 9:30-10:30 am. Pastor Doug Schneider of Woodlands Church in Plover will officiate. Ron asked that people celebrate his life with fond memories, laughter, and attending his service wearing bright colors instead of black.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rawhide Boys Ranch, E7475 Rawhide Road, New London, WI 54961, an organization near and dear to Ron's heart.
