Herbert Burquez
1937 - 2021
On Sunday, May 2, 2021, Herbert Burquez, a loving husband and father passed away at the age of 83. He was born and spent most of his life in the Napa Valley. He graduated from Napa High School in 1956.
After serving and being honorably discharged from the Army in 1958, Herb attended Napa Junior College for two years, then attended Sacramento State College graduating with a Masters in Education. Briefly, he taught and coached in East Nicolas and Sacramento before returning to the Napa Valley. He was a teacher and a coach in Calistoga and then in St. Helena where he retired after 32 years.
Herb loved sports, storytelling, history, genealogy, sailing, classical guitar, and big band music. He had a dry sense of humor and a wonderful laugh. He adored his siblings and extended family and was a dedicated father, husband, teacher, and coach, highly respected by friends, colleagues, students, and his family.
His survivors include his wife Geri of 59 years, daughters Linda and Debra, and his siblings.
The burial will be private.
