Leroy Mims Obituary

Leroy Mims, 61, died October 6, 2006.

Rev. Leroy Mims was born on October 5, 1945, to Henry Mims and Martha Harried, he was the youngest of 3 children. He was born in Palmer's Crossing, MS.

He attended Depriest School and later attended Jackson State University where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He worked several years in that field, where he became Supervisor of Merchandising for Rite Aid Corporation. He retired in June 2006 after many years to become a full-time pastor at Light of the World Christian Center, Gulfport.

He met Audrie Mims in 1980 and they married and love was born because God had smiled on them. He had two children from a previous marriage.

Mr. Mims is preceded in death by one brother, David Green Harris.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Audrie N. Mims, Gulfport, five children, Carla (Gregory) Riggins, Virginia Beach, VA, Cristina (Richard) Alsop, Yokosuka, Japan, Toni Jones, Mobile, AL, Eric L. Mims, Sr., Biloxi, Kenyon L. Crosby, Enterprise, AL; his father, Henry (Mary Lou) Mims, Hattiesburg, MS; his mother, Martha (Roger) Harried, Gulfport, MS, one sister, Ethel (Willie) Mitchell; 11 grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mims was loved by as many as he met. His wife, children and family saw him home with the Lord on Friday, October 6, 2006, with all the love he deserved. He leaves a legacy of loving and living large.

Funeral Services: 11 a.m., Thursday, October 12, 2006, Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Gulfport, MS, with a one-hour visitation prior to services. Interment: Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport.

I can remember Leroy as well as his brother David from High School in Hattiesburg. Leroy was a great person as well as a great Drummer in the School band. He will surely be missed. May God be with each of you.
