Neil Harrington Obituary
p>Neil Steven Harrington, Sr., 71, of Turnersville, May 11, 2007, after a long illness, surrounded by his children, went home to be with our Lord. He was formerly of Audubon and had been born at home in Camden, N.J. He is survived by his daughter Darlene Schoenewald (and Stanley), daughter Cheryl Harrington and son Neil, Jr.; spouse Ruth Harrington; and sister Charlotte Trunk; loving grandsons David Archibald, Brian Archibald, Steven Archibald, Timothy Connolly and Shawn Connolly; granddaughter Sandra Schoenewald; and great-grandson Brandon Archibald; four nephews and a niece; and many family members and friends.
He was predeceased by father Charles, mother Beatrice, and brother Charles; beloved grandmother Esther Sayres, father-in-law Thomas Sinclair and beloved mother-in-law Caroline Sinclair.
Neil was a career truck driver, like his father, proudly driving 23 years for J.B. Van Sciver Co. and over a decade for Washington Township Public Works. He was a retired member and Union Shop Steward of Teamsters Local 676 and was a retired member and Union Shop Steward with AFSCME.
Neil¹s passions were fishing, hunting, cooking and being creative. He was a prize-winning cook and butcher. Neil loved small game hunting with his hound dogs and laid out a table of delicious dishes. He enjoyed deer hunting locally and out of state. Neil shared his artistic talent in photography and drawing and painting. He loved history and was interested in anything related to World War II.
Neil loved the shore and was happiest by the water with a fishing pole in hand. He was an avid charter boat fisherman, spending many happy hours on the Delaware Bay.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the North American Hunting Club, the North American Fishing Club, Glassbowman Bow Club and was a founding member of the Four Seasons Bow Club.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Prayer Chapel of St John¹s United Methodist Church, 149 Ganttown Road, Turnersville N.J., on Friday, June 15, 2007 at 7 p.m.
Private interment services will be held at sea at the convenience of the family. The family suggests donations be made to The American Heart Association, 600 White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ 08106 and the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. Funeral arrangements were handled by FARNELLI FUNERAL HOME, Williamstown NJ.
