Shirley Ladner LaFontaine, 85, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at her residence in Waveland, MS.

Mrs. LaFontaine was a member of the St. Clare Catholic Church. Mrs. LaFontaine was retired from Sears and Roebuck Co. in Gulfport, MS. She was a member of the American Legion in Gulfport and Past Queen of the Krewe of Gemini. Mrs. LaFontaine "Granny" was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mayor Garfield Ladner and Lottie Bourgeois Ladner; her husband of 56 years, Roland LaFontaine; her great-granddaughter, Lillie Grace LaFontaine; brothers, Malvin, Alvin ,Carl, Bert, and Louis Ladner; sisters, Grace Bordages and Myrtle Haas.

Survived by her son, Ronald J. LaFontaine and his wife Elaine of Bay St. Louis, MS; daughter, Shelley Lozano and her husband Carlos Lozano III of Waveland, MS; three grandchildren, Ryan LaFontaine (Meredith) of McKinney, TX; Taylor LaFontaine (Courtney) of Diamondhead, MS; Hannah Smith (Trent) of Poplarville, MS; four great-grandchildren, Peyton LaFontaine, Issac LaFontaine, Noah LaFontaine and Abbie Smith.

Visitation will be Friday, March 7, 2014 from 10:00 am until 12 noon at St. Clare Catholic Church in Waveland, MS with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at noon. Intombment will be at Waveland Cemetery.

Mrs. LaFontaine's family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice especially Cynthia Geroux and Mia Shiyou. Dr. Sidney Chevis and a special caregiver Amy Ladner.

Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
