David Barros Obituary

GASTONIA - David Anthony Barros Jr., 76, passed away June 15, 2009, at his residence.

He was born June 12, 1933, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late David Anthony Barros Sr. and Helen Butka Barros.

Mr. Barros was a devoted Catholic and a U.S. Army veteran.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church, 503 N. Main St., Belmont, officiated by Father Paul.

Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.
A visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel in Gastonia.

He is survived by his daughters, Darlene Hall of Gastonia, Debra Ford of Clemmons and three grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ilona Arvai Barros.

Memorials may be sent to Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.

Arrangements are with Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel in Gastonia.

I knew David as a neighbor on clay st. Greenpoint. Later in life I married his 1st cousin frank karpowicz. We never knew his whereabouts. His mom died before we were married.
