Michael Hunter Obituary
Services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Trinity Baptist Church in Sweetwater with the Reverends Matt McGowen and Carter Edmondson officiating. Interment will follow in the Sweetwater Cemetery directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
The family received friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Mike was born to Linda and Bill Hunter in Sweetwater, Texas on November 14, 1961. He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1980 and attended San Angelo State University. He married Sandra Jean Peloquin May 8, 2008 in Sweetwater.
He was a life long resident of Sweetwater (and Trent, TX) and a member of the First Baptist Church. Mike was a great golfer and had the pleasure of making sixteen (16) holes-in-one. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and marksman and lived life fearlessly and had a personality bigger than life. He also enjoyed participating in competition Cook-Offs of which he was a champion. He established Sweetwater Creek Ranch, a hunter's retreat and outfitter
He is survived by his wife Sandy Hunter of Trent,TX, a son: Ryan Hunter of Denver CO, two step-sons: Joshua Kruebde & wife Courtney of Carthage, TX, Zachary Kruebde & wife Miranda of Carthage, TX, his parents: Linda and Bill Hunter, Jr. of Sweetwater, TX, a brother: Bill Hunter III & wife Diane of Sweetwater, TX, a sister Allison Ikard & husband Jim of Plano, TX, nieces: Alex, Hanna, and Alex, nephew Ryan, an aunt; Punkin Ohlen of West Columbia, TX, and cousins Hunter Ohlen and Wade Ohlen of West Columbia, TX.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Mary Graham Hunter and William B, Hunter, Sr. and maternal grandparents Allan Blake and Tincy Blake.
Pallbearers will be will be Kenny Maxwell, James Boone, Bobby Jones, Donnie Powers, Charlie Powell, Todd Moore, Scott Harris, Todd Geise, and Justin Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Poe, Mason Maxwell, Kyle Doby, Tregg Granato, Don Timm, and Brent Burnett.

Though I only met Mike a few times in my life, the first time I met him showed me that he was a wonderful man. He was responsible for showing me a great time at his hunting lease, and was responsible for letting me shoot my first big buck. May he rest in peace in God's kingdom...

We are so saddened by the untimely death of such a great guy. We fell in love with Mike along with his dad, Bill and brother Bill many years ago when they came to Louisiana. A strong friendship was formed here in cotton fields and a cotton gin. Mike was one of the most charming guys we have ever known. He was always so interesting to talk with as he had lots of stories to tell us.
Know that we love this family and hold all of you dear to our hearts. We will ask that God give all of you strength and loving memories.
