Mable Puckett Obituary
June 22, 1934 - March 31, 2021
MARION, Va.
Mable Six Puckett, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at the Carrington Place in Rural Retreat, Va.
Mable was born in Smyth County, Va., to the late Milton James Ford and Mary Jane Ford. She was preceded in death by her son, Evan Six; brothers, Cecil, John and Willis Ford; sisters, Stella Campbell, Violet West French, and Thelma Ray; and a special friend, Jean Alley.
She worked for the United Inter Mountain Telephone Company for over 30 years and was a longtime member of the Valley View Baptist Church in Sugar Grove, Va. She enjoyed search word puzzles and cross stitching. She loved to give the cross stitchings to her family and friends.
Survivors include, her sons, Johnathan Goodwin and wife, Shirley, of Marion, and Mike Goodwin of Wytheville; sister, Joyce Kirk of Sugar Grove; grandchildren, Anthony Ross Goodwin, Michael Melvin, and Amanda Melvin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday April 3, 2021, at the Valley View Baptist Church with Pastor Chuck Stout officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be held at Slemp Cemetery in Sugar Grove, Va. I would just like to take the time to let everyone know how much we appreciate all the kind words, condolences , and especially our many friendships during this time of mourning. Mom was blessed to have such a loving family and network of wonderful friends that truly loved her. Her service was just beautiful and she would have been so glad that so many of her friends and family that did make it and would have been most understanding to those that couldn't. She was a very understanding, compassionate lady that had a very loving and forgiving heart. She never had a bad word for anyone and I cannot ever remember anyone having a cross word towards her. I don't think many of us could honestly say that about ourselves. I think that alone speaks volumes about her disposition and personality. I would especially like to thank Pastor Chuck Stout for the awesome sermon and kind words for my mother. I thought it was totally apropos. She will truly be missed by all. Again, thanks to each and everyone of you. I was so glad to see you all there. Many of you I hadn't seen in years and it was so comforting and yes even joyous to see you all. You all touched her life in a very positive way. And for that I will always be eternally grateful for the way her friends, family, and Valley View Baptist Church have treated her all these years.
