Rita Joyce (Barkley) Prindle, of Lakeland, went home to the Lord January 12, 2025 at the age of 94. Rita was born February 20, 1930 in Ogdensburg, NY and was predeceased by her parents, Ida Isabelle (Fournier) and George Barkley, sons, William Prindle Jr. and Mitchell Prindle, and sister, Marie Alberti.
She is survived by her favorite companion and husband of 69 years, William Arthur Prindle; children, Garrett (Paula), Mary (James) and David (Jennifer); 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, nieces, a nephew, and several furry companions.
Rita was a dedicated homemaker most of her life, but once her children were older she enjoyed working at the State Insurance Fund. Rita was active for many years in the Altar Rosary Society and Women's Auxiliary at St. Marianne Cope Parish-Our Lady of Peace Church, as well as in the Lakeland Seniors. She liked to travel and some of her favorite places included England, Scotland, Hawaii and Branson. Rita loved to laugh and enjoyed dancing, shopping, swimming, playing cards, reading, going to the movies, and spending time with her many friends, family, and pets.
In addition to her daughter Mary, the family would like to thank her caregivers: Tara, Debbie, Luann, Missy, and Jenn.
Family and friends may call Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4 - 6 PM at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave, Solvay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday January 18th, at St. Marianne Cope Parish - Our Lady of Peace Church, 203 Halcomb St, Lakeland.
The Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lakeland.
