Jimmy Simmons Obituary
Bainbridge, GA - Elder Jimmy Lee Simmons was born to the Late Elder Simon Simmons, Sr. and Mrs. Ida Price Simmons in McCrayville, GA on August 15, 1947.
Jimmy attended Mt. Moriah High School located in Attapulgus, GA. Immediately following graduation, he enlisted in the US Army. After serving his country, Jimmy attended Lively Vocational Technical Center and received his certification in Carpentry and Cabinet Making. In August 2009, he graduated from Zion Christian Bible Institute with his Divinity degree.
Jimmy accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age under the leadership of the Late Elder T. L. Geter at Mt. Ararat P.B. Church in McCrayville, GA. He served as choir director for several years at many churches in the surrounding area. In 1981, he accepted the call to be a shepherd and deliverer of God's word. Jimmy served as Pastor of St. Clair P. B. Church, Mt. Zion P. B. Church and St. Beulah P.B. Church. For over 30 years, he served as Moderator of the South Georgia P. B. Association. He served as President of the South Georgia Local Church Union for several years. Jimmy also served as second Vice President of the Georgia State P.B. Convention. He was instrumental in ordaining several local ministers and deacons.
On Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 4:55 AM surrounded by his family, Jimmy went home to be with his Lord and Savior. He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Willie Faye Simmons; mother: Mrs. Ida Price Simmons; four daughters: Venecia Simmons Foster (Mickey); Shelondia Simmons Tribue (Michael), Marcia Tribue Pitts and Paula Tribue, five sisters: Florene Harrison, Louvenia Jones, Lillie Pease, Geraldine Paxton and Bettye Simmons; three brothers:, Elder Simon Simmons, Jr. (Roberta), Elijah Simmons and Clifford Simmons; uncle: Michael Trabue (Lynn); 7 grandchildren, 4 four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, godchildren and friends.
A Homegoing Service Celebrating the Life of Elder Jimmy L. Simmons will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 31, 2018 at St. Clair Primitive Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Melton Mortuary of Attapulgus, GA (229) 465-3343, will be providing the services for the Simmons' family.

The Lord called, Elder Jimmy Simmons answered , hearing the Lord say well done, thine good and faithful servant. Elder Simmons is resting in the arms of Jesus. On behalf of the Sensational Harmonettes, he will truly be missed. We often reflect on a lot of songs he used to sing and put everything he had in him, in it. This is the one man I knew that would write a song on the floor and the background did what we do, dropped a background to it that we would all be on the same page and in sync. Those are the special blessing and gifts God gave this gem. We love you Elder Jimmy Simmons and we will forever treasure you in our hearts and ears to hear the songs you recorded and the videos I happen to catch live. ❤
