Dr. Jyotsna ("Dr Jo") Dalal, M.D.

Dr. Jyotsna ("Dr Jo") Dalal, M.D., age 71, an Interventional Cardiologist, Director Cardiology Associates and resident of Tallahassee, FL, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, after a long battle with many illnesses. She passed at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital on the very floor where she saved so very many of her own patients' lives, among her colleagues, and family. She was born in Mumbai, Maharastra, India to Purushottam Deshmurh and Sudha Sabnis Deshmurh on October 14, 1943. "Dr. Jo" was a member of the Hindu Temple/Society of Tallahassee and enjoyed gardening (especially her roses), cooking, and reading - if not cardiology related, it was a murder mystery.

She attended Bombay University, MD-WVU School of Medicine, Cardiology Fellowship at Hershey and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, FACC, and FCCP Fellow and was a member of numerous academic honorary groups, including AOA.

"Dr. Jo" was preceded in death by her father and mother. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Prof. Naresh Dalal of FSU; one sister, Rekha Nagle of Mumbai, India; daughters, Geeta Simons of Philadelphia and Najma Dalal of Tallahassee, FL; and grandchildren, Devi and Rani, (who will miss her dearly).

A memorial service was held at Culleys' MeadowWood Funeral Home at 1737 Riggins Road on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 10:00 am. In keeping with his/her wishes, no formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WFSU TV at 1600 Red Barber Plaza, Tallahassee, Fl., 32310.
