Joseph Zellner Obituary

BERRYVILLE, Va. - Joseph Norman Zellner, 73, of Berryville, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, in the Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Zellner was born July 5, 1940, in Trion, Ga., son of the late Lawrence Venoy Zellner and Sara Eddis Jennings Zellner.

He was educated at Trion public schools and the University of Georgia. He was a correspondent for The Associated Press, press secretary to the governor of New Hampshire and to the New Hampshire primary campaign of Ronald Reagan, regional media director for the 1980 Reagan for President Campaign, and a public affairs specialist for the Small Business Administration.

He married Jeanette Zellner April 23, 1971, in Hampton Falls, N.H.

Surviving with his wife are his sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence Zellner and Emily Fischer, of Salt Lake City, and Kendric Zellner and Anya Moon, of Pittsburgh; a granddaughter, Viola Zellner-Moon of Pittsburgh; and a brother and sister-in-law, Carlos and Sue Zellner of Trion, Ga.

I was at the University of GA with Joe - and he was great. Had him on my mind this morning and looked for him. So sorry to hear of his death. You had to be blessed to be in his family. I have fond memories of the UGA days and his love of journalism.
