Juan Capin Obituary

CAPIN, Juan Ramon, 67 of Tampa, passed away September 16, 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 44 years, Yvonne Yolie Capin; daughter, Jessica Lynn Capin and her husband Mark Dion, Jr.; his grandson, Myles Capin Dion; and also surviving is his mother, Maria Teresa Capin. He was predeceased by his father, Jose and sister, Maria Teresa. Juan was born in Spain and moved to the United States when he was 10 years old; by that time, he had lived in 3 continents. He graduated from the original Thomas Jefferson High School Class of 1966 and also from the University of South Florida where he was also a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Juan was a Master Jeweler and he and his wife owned and ran J. Capin Jewelers from the 1970's through the 1990's. He was also a real estate broker. Juan lived his "bucket list" and just to know him made you smile. He was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, sculpting and was a published photographer. Juan also enjoyed politics; he felt that being involved in politics was a way to be an advocate for those who could not be their own and felt it was his civic obligation to be involved. He was a mentor, friend and family man. An Asturia wake service will be held on Tuesday, September 24 from 6-10 pm at Centro Asturiano De Tampa, Inc. in the 3rd floor ballroom. The family has entrusted care and services to JGR Funeral Home. Please leave online condolences at www.JGRFuneralHome.com

I met Juan many years ago when we were classmates at USF. Juan was a Bull, a USF Bull grad and supporter; but, in his real life a kind, generous and bright gentleman who loved and enjoyed his family and friends. He will be missed but not forgotten. GOD BLESS and Condolences to Yoli and their family.

As my son said "Juan was the funniest man I ever met." Juan kept his sense of humor to the end. When in the hospital he said it didn't bother me that they found a blood clot nor when they told me I had some tumors what bothered me was finding out I was 67 years old. Here was a man who could find humor when there seemed to be none. A man with a special gift who will truly be missed.

Yoli,
Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss. We were fortunate to get to know you and Juan within the last year. One of many lasting impressions is that you truly were each others' soulmates. Juan was also so well versed in so many subjects, and had a great sense of humor. Due to other commitments, we will not be able to pay our respects in person this evening, but we wanted to let you know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

The election season of 2011 in Tampa was most invigorating and successful from my perspective. During that time I got to be acquainted with Juan while attending benefits, speeches and any get together frequented by the candidates for Tampa City Council and there were many. He was ever at his wife's side in complete support of the love of his life. He was first and foremost a dedicated family man but had impressive knowledge of the History of Tampa Bay and of course his birthplace Spain. He knew his politics too and of course we always were in agreement. My sincerest condolences to Yolie and to the entire family. Juan will be sorely missed.

May the God of all comfort be with the family during this difficult time. We all yearn for better conditions. It's refreshing to know that God's word speaks of a time when sorrow will be gone and that mankind will live in beautiful surroundings with nothing to fear. Isaiah 65: 17,21-24 is where these promises can be found. I hope they bring you comfort as they have me.
