Richard HIRSCH Obituary

HIRSCH, Richard Allan husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, and dear friend - passed away June 19, 2024, at his home in Tampa, Florida. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 54 years and his children. He was 82. Born July 6, 1941 in Tampa, Florida to Miriam and Jack Hirsch, Richard was a devoted son and a beloved brother to his sisters, Paula and Melinda. He graduated from Plant High School and went on to pursue political science at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. After college, he returned home to Tampa to be with family and help care for his younger sister, Melinda, while attending Stetson College of Law. After graduating from Stetson, he taught History at Plant High School before beginning his law career as a Federal Prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney's Office. From the U.S. Attorney's Office, he spent time as an Assistant State Attorney before joining Arnold Levine and Mike Freedman in private practice. The law firm of Levine, Freedman, Hirsch, and later Levinson, became his professional home for many decades, with many more colleagues joining throughout the years, including: Stevan Northcutt, Stephen Segall, Edward Brennan, Lesley Friedsam, and Robert MacKenzie. Richard valued family and the close relationships he cultivated with friends throughout the years. He treasured being a husband to his wife, Lyn, and a father to his daughters, Dana and Cortney but his most precious role was that of grandfather to Chloe, Henry, Ward and Grey. He led by example, always putting others first, and treated everyone with respect. He was patient, humble and kind. He was a baseball lover and an avid collector. Autographed sports memorabilia, political magazines and coins were his favorites. He will be missed dearly, and remembered lovingly, by his wife, Lyn, his children Dana (Jonathan) Cohen and Cortney (Steve) Webel, his sister Paula (Nathan) Davis and his grandchildren Chloe and Henry Cohen and Ward and Grey Webel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his honor.

The Byrd Family

June 23, 2024

Mr. Hirsch represented us through the law firm after an MVA where we were both injured badly. He was a remarkable soul, even talked to us MANY years later when my husband got sick as a result of the MVA trauma. His sister Paula who worked with him at the time was wonderful as well. RIP Sir we are sending our love to your family
