William MORRISON Obituary
MORRISON, William "Bill" John passed away on March 12, 2023 at the age of 90 years old. He was born and raised in New Haven, CT but a long-time resident of Tampa, Florida becoming acquainted with the area through his service in the United States Airforce at MacDill Airforce base in the 1950's. After attending college at Samford University in Birmingham, earning a Bachelor's degree in accounting, he married Virginia "Gena" Lee Schoettlin of Birmingham. The couple relocated to Tampa, Florida where Bill began his career in public accounting and he and Gena raised a family. Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Gena Morrison; his mother, Mary Reilly Morrison (Kerry, Ireland); his father, James Joseph Morrison (Leitrim, Ireland); his brother, James Francis Morrison (Colorado). He is survived by his wife, Ann; his son, R. Brian Morrison (Josephine); his daughter, Carole Morrison-Gary (Paul Gary); and his former daughter-in-law, Jeanette Diane Bloom Morrison. He was an enthusiastic grandfather who adored his four grandchildren, Heather Elizabeth Morrison Bennett (Nathan), Reilly Foster Morrison (Jen), Mallory Grace Morrison (Tyler Smith), and Jeb Denton Gary. He had six great- grandchildren, William Morrison, Mark Bennett, Samuel Morrison, Elizabeth Bennett, Jack Morrison, and Luke Bennett. Bill is also survived by his brothers, Thomas "Tom" Morrison (New Jersey) and Robert "Bob" Morrison (North Carolina); as well as his sister-in-law, Jackie Morrison (North Carolina). Bill enjoyed discussing business and ideas, was an avid reader, enjoyed the theatre, dressed impeccably, and was a thoughtful friend and colleague. He was a great one-on-one conversationalist who had a unique ability to focus his attention on what was important to his fellow conversant. Bill lived quietly but with purpose and, while he is gone, all those that loved him remember and appreciate his impact on their lives. Rest in peace dad.
