William OWEN Obituary

OWEN, William D. "Don" 86, of Tampa, FL, passed away on Sept. 14, 2023. Don was a loving father and mentor to many. He had a distinguished career as a Professor of Music at USF and Trumpet player in The Florida Orchestra. He is predeceased by his wife, Justine LeBaron; and his daughter, Jana Owen. He is survived by his son, Bill Owen (Sandy); step-daughters, Jessica Ancer (Jeff) and Melissa Davies (Todd); grandchildren, Phoebe Ancer, Garrett Ancer, Piper Davies, Alexsia Owen, Jared Schweiberger and Jamie Schweiberger; brother, Douglas Owen; and cousin, Glenda Bjorkland (Ron). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Feeding America. A memorial service will be announced.

Just found out. Don was a good friend. I suspect he is giving Gabriel some lessons.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Don, better known as "Bubblehead" in high school. He was a fantastic trumpet player and was a great asset to the Gastonia (NC) High School band. Don was in my Class of 1955 and had many friends. I only found out today. Condolences to the family and may God give you peace and comfort.
