William Carl Kofoed

Fort Pierce, FL

William Carl (Bill) Kofoed, 84, passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2018. Born in, PA moving to Miami, FL when he was 5. He graduated from Miami Edison High, then Dartmouth College in 1955. He joined the Miami Herald as a reporter where his father, Jack Kofoed, was a long-time columnist. He joined Hank Meyer Associates, a leading public relations firms. After 10 years he opened Bill Kofoed, Inc., representing the travel industry. In 1997, he moved to Fort Pierce, FL. upon marrying JoAnn Allen, who operated a real estate brokerage in St. Lucie County. He obtained his real estate license and worked with her until her retirement in 2010. JoAnn and Bill attended both Hendersonville Presbyterian Church (NC) and Indian River Presbyterian Church in Ft. Pierce FL.

Bill is survived by his wife, JoAnn; three daughters, Susan Grimes, FL, Melanie Kofoed, SD, and Ashira (Richard) Young, IN; grandchildren, Jeffrey Kofoed, NH, Gracie Grimes, FL, Nicholas and Amanda Cummings, IN; and four great-grandchildren. Bill was pre-deceased by his sons, Elliott Kofoed and Wayne Scott Fuzzard. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at Indian River Presbyterian Church located at 2499 Virginia Avenue, Ft. Pierce, FL on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at 2 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service. An online guest book may be signed at www.haisleyfuneralhome.com

Am sorry to learn of Bills passing. Some of my fondest travel memories were with Bill and my late husband Jim at Grand Case Beach Club, along the Pan American Highway in Chile, and elsewhere. RIP, Bill.
