Robert Moawad Obituary

Robert A. Moawad died January 13th, 2007 in his home, after a 7 year battle with cancer. Born January 2nd, 1941 in Longview, Washington he grew up and lived his early life in Kalama, Washington where he began his successful endeavors into the athletic, education, and entertainment world. Bob moved on to Ellensburg where he has since been honored both as a Distinguished Alumnus and as a member of the Central Washington University athletic hall of fame (Baseball/Basketball). Throughout Bob's life he remained very involved with both his high school and

university education and athletic programs.

After earning a Master's degree at Central, Bob had a successful teaching and coaching career at both Central Kitsap (Bremerton) and Clover Park (Lakewood). Bob joined an elite list of coaches when he won a WIAA State Basketball Championship at Central Kitsap and valued that experience as one of the most rewarding 'opportunities' of his life. After teaching, Bob eventually became Chairman and CEO of Edge Learning Institute. Edge's mission was simple - help both people and organizations maximize their number one human asset...themselves. This became Bob's life mission. From the front lines of American education to the boardrooms of some of our nation's most prestigious Fortune 500 companies Bob Moawad earned a well-deserved reputation in the area of peak performance as a tireless teacher, coach, leader, speaker, author, innovator, benefactor, visionary, consultant, "edutainer", and friend.

Along the way, Bob has been the president of the National Association for Self-Esteem, an original author of Chicken Soup For The Soul, a leader for the humane society, a catalyst for Relay For Life (www.relayforlife.com), a beloved husband, a wonderful father, and a terrific grandfather. Bob is survived by his wife, Andrea of Lakewood; his son, Trevor Moawad of Florida; and oldest son Robert Moawad, Jr, of Seattle; and two grandchildren, Boen Moawad, and Grace Moawad.

The Memorial Services will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, January 26th at St. John Bosco with Father Hightower, officiating. The service will be followed by a "Celebration of life," at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club at 3:00 pm.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Edge Learning institute, 2209 N .Pearl Street, Suite 100, Tacoma, WA, 98406-2529. Arrangements are under the direction of Mountain View Funeral Home 584-0252. Please sign online guest book at www.mountainviewtacoma.com

I met Bob as a 7th grade basketball player for Kelso in the mid 50's. What a competitor and great guy! We would see each other off and on and swap stories during our highschool days. We played on a semi-pro baseball team a couple of summers during our college days, but we lost track of each other after that. Bob was definitely a "cut above" the average guy during our generation and I feel a great loss in hearing of his passing.
