God always Lived in Armands Heart. His prayer was always simple. He always wanted to be normal. A prayer he understood couldn't be answered, and accepted. Instead, He prayed for his family. Armand's unique prespectives were often a source of amusement. I realize his world was different from ours. He reasoned and communicated with the capabilities of kindness. He always believed that God would take him to the Mother he adored. He loved traveling and the Holidays. I often wondered if Armand realized how different or if he was dissasfied with his monotonous life? He never complained. He loved his dogs. In fact he loved all animals. He didn't know dissatisfaction. He didn't know what it meant to be discontent. His life was simple. He never knew the entanglements of wealth of power, and he didn't care what brand of clothing he wore. His need have always been met, and he never worried that one day they may not be. His heart was pure. He believed everyone told the truth, promised kept, and when you are wrong, you apologized instead of argue. Free from pride and unconcerned with apprearances, Armand was not afraid to cry when hurt, angry or sorry. He was always transparant, always sincere. And trusted God. Not confined by intellectual reasoning, when he comes to Christ, he comes as a child. Armand seems to know God - to really be friends with Him in a way that is difficult for an 'educated' person to grasp. God seems like his closest companion. In my moments of doubt and frustration with my Christianity, I envy the security Armand had in his simple faith. It is then that I am most willing to admit that he had some divine knowledge that rises above my mortal questions. It is then I realize that perhaps he is not the one with the handicap, I am. My obligations, my fear, my pride, my circumstances - they all become disabilities when I do not trust them to God's care. Who knows if Armand comprehended things I can never learn? After all, he has spent his whole life in that kind innocence, and soaking up the goodness and love of God. And one day, when the mysteries of heaven are opened, and we are all amazed at how close God really is to our hearts, I'll realize that God heard the simple prayers of a boy named "Armand".
Love Always, Mac
