Lennerton, Sr., 91
LEICESTER - J. Donald Lennerton, Sr., 91, of Rawson Street died Wednesday, June 27 in the Life Care Center of Auburn.
His wife, Eleanor F. (Stachura) Lennerton died in 1992. He leaves two sons, J. Donald Lennerton, Jr. and his wife Dianne of Leicester and James G. Lennerton of Florida; a grandson, Joseph D. Lennerton, III of Leicester; a sister, Ruth Lennerton of Braintree and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by four brothers, Gerald F., Leo C., John M. & Allan Lennerton and five sisters, Marjorie Damiano, Mary Adelaide Steele, Helen Wether, Rita Sweeney and Margaret White.
Mr. Lennerton was born in Boston, son of Leander C. and Mary Ellen (MacDonald) Lennerton of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. He moved to Leicester in 1933 and attended Leicester Schools. He served 5 years in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII seeing action in the Middle East, North Africa and Italy. He worked for Rossley's Dairy after World War II, and retired as a Letter Carrier from the U.S. Postal Service, having worked his whole career in Leicester. After retirement he worked for many years at the Leicester Campus at Becker College.
Don was appointed to the Leicester Fire Dept. in 1937, serving until 1968. He also served on the Leicester School Committee, Board of Selectman, Town Hall Building Committee, High School Building Committee; as Chairman of Leicester 250th Anniversary Committee and as ranger at Burncoat Park. Most recently, he was Grand Marshall of Leicester's 2012 Memorial Day Parade. He had long maintained memberships with the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The Funeral will be held Saturday, June 30 at 10:30 AM in MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester. Burial with Military Honors will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling period will precede the funeral from 9:00-10:30 AM. Please omit flowers.

Sorry to hear of your loss Don. I have many wonderful memories with your dad and it was an honor to know him. I worked on the milk truck with him, hunted pheasant with him and just plain loved him. He always treated us kids with the utmost of respect. He will be missed. Barry Wood

Don is one person that I will always remember because as I was growing up in Leicester he was someone I looked up to as he was just a great man to know. God bless him and I am so sorry for the family of Don.
