Sylvia Mess Smith, 92
WORCESTER - Sylvia Mess Smith, age 92, died peacefully with her family at her side June, 18, 2013. Sylvia was born in Trochenbrod Ukraine on July 4, 1920 and immigrated to the United States 1921. She was a long time resident of Worcester Massachusetts living there over sixty years.
She was the daughter of Sarah Burack Mess and Isaac Mess. She graduated from Commerce High School and worked for the City of Worcester. In 1940 she married Aaron (Archie) Smith, and they raised their family in Worcester. Her passion was her family. She loved knitting, reading books, the outdoors, family trips and most importantly seeing her sons, grandsons, granddaughters, and great grandchildren as they grew and matured.
Her husband of 64 years, her son Roger Smith, her parents, and her siblings Eli, Sheppard, and Ida predeceased her. She is survived by her son Stephen and his wife Elaine; daughter-in-law, Susan Smith; grandchildre,n Scott & Kristen Smith, David Smith & Peony Fhagen-Smith, Tamara (Smith) & Scott Borowick, Kimberly (Smith) & Tray Biasiolli, and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday June 21 at Temple Emanuel, Worcester, Massachusetts. A Memorial Observance will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday June 23 at 5 Canterbury Way, Cape Elizabeth, ME.
Donations in her memory may be made to: Congregation Bet Ha'am South Portland, ME, Gosnell House, Scarborough, ME, or Maine Medical Center Portland, ME

Aunt Sylvia,
You were an amazing woman, mother, aunt, grandmother, and a second mother to my father! The memories I have of you, I will alway hold close to my heart! Dance performances Lauren and I did, the vacations and outings we had!!! The Smith's as always will come together and remember you tomorrow! I will miss you as each day passes...I love you! xox Jessica
