Nashville, TN
Miriam Jeanne McEachern Thune, age 95, passed away June 11, 2015.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles H. Rutherford, by her husband, Leland E. Thune and her brother, Don McEachern.
Survived by her three children, Charles Rutherford, III (Kathie) of Sierra Vista AZ, Miriam Jenkins (John) of Amherst MA and Robert Rutherford (Linda) of Nashville TN; and by her step-children, Carl Thune (Victoria) of Princeton New Jersey, Janice Bogle of Seattle WA and Gene Thune (Merry) of Johnson City TN; and her sisters, Candi Ray (Robert), Rosemary Jensen, Cecil Young (Reynolds) and Austin Brayfield, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Jeanne attended Montreat Junior College, where she received an A.B. degree, Peabody College where she received a B.A. degree and Vanderbilt University where she received a Master's degree and a PhD in both general experimental psychology and clinical psychology. She was the first female to receive a PhD in general experimental psychology from Vanderbilt University where she became an Associate Professor of Psychology, and Student Health Center psychologist. In addition, Jeanne held positions at Belmont University and the Senior Citizens Center. Jeanne was a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Nashville, TN.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church or Alive Hospice.

Jeanne was such a sweet, caring, and very smart woman. I loved seeing that smile everytime I would walk through her door. I am so honored that I had the chance to care about her like she was my own grandmother. I miss you so much and You will forever be in my heart.
