Bobby Coleman Obituary

On Friday, March 29, 2024, beloved pastor Dr. Bobby Edward Coleman passed away at the age of 89.

Known to many across the CSRA, Coleman modeled his years of ministry after the apostle Paul's message in Acts 20:24: "Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus-the work of telling others the Good News about God's mighty kindness and love."

One of twelve children, he was born August 21, 1934, to Madison T. Coleman and Leila P. Coleman, in Lynchburg, South Carolina. Coleman is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Ruby Frye Coleman; daughters, Jeanette Stokely (Ricky) and Victoria Irby (Anthony); two sisters; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother and father; several brothers and sisters; and his son, Madison Edward Coleman (Cathy).

Coleman served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, and he worked at R.C. Motor Line for 18 years. He attended seminary at Columbia Bible College, and completed his double Doctorate of Theology and Divinity degrees from International Bible Institute in Florida. Coleman served in ministry for over 50 years in the Congregational Holiness Denomination as the pastor of Cornerstone Fellowship Congregational Holiness Church, Denomination Superintendent, and Conference Secretary.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00pm on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez GA 30907. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Cornerstone Fellowship Congregational Holiness Church, 1612 Central Ave, Augusta GA 30904, with interment immediately following at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2700 Deans Bridge Rd, Augusta GA 30906.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First Fruits offering educational opportunities to students and pastors with The Congregational Holiness Church, Inc. (www.chchurch.com/2023firstfruits/).

Rev. Coleman was extremely kind and gracious to our Family when we lost my Father in 1999. His words at his Graveside Service were comforting and uplifting during a very difficult time in our lives. Rev. Coleman was a Godly man who truly lived his Faith. We remain so very thankful for his care and friendship. May God bless his family with peace and comfort in the days to come.

Sincerely,
Nancy Harrison-Watson
