Anne Humphreys Obituary

Anne Elizabeth Humphreys, 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on August 19th, 2016. The fourth of five children, she was born February 7th, 1940 in Wallasey, England to Sydney Smith and Josephine (Downey) Smith. She attended high school at Marymount Convent before working at Cammell Laird's in the drafting department. Anne began dating John Humphreys in 1956. He moved to London in 1957 and they continued a long distance relationship until he moved back to the area in 1960. They were married in 1962. When their first daughter was born, Anne became a homemaker and was very active in PTO and church groups. After their second daughter was born, Anne co-owned a successful clothing store.

In 1982 Anne relocated to Manitowoc, Wisconsin for her husband's job, and then again to Conway in 1985. A lifelong Catholic, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her faith played a significant role in her life. She organized and worked with the Altar Society for 22 years, as well as participating weekly in the Eucharistic Adoration program since its inception. Anne was also a member of the Conway Newcomer's Club for 31 years, serving terms as President and Secretary. She very much enjoyed being a member of the Bunko, Pokeno, and Book Club groups and treasured the many friends she made there.

Anne is survived by John, her husband of 54 years, daughters Christine Smith and Justine Hollowell, sons-in-law Jeff Smith and Jeffrey Hollowell, grandchildren Lauren Smith, John Smith, and Kaden Hollowell, sisters Rita Wilkinson, Claire Burrows, and Christine Chadwick, brothers-in-law Norman Burrows and Doug Chadwick, sister-in-law Jean Davies, brother-in-law Rodney Davies, a host of nieces, nephews, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Allan Smith.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the medical professionals who took such good care of Anne over the last few months: Dr. Shirley Ong, Dr. J.D. Day, and the Neurology and Neurosurgery staffs at UAMS, Dr. Brian Imamura and the staff at CARTI, and her primary care physician and friend, Dr. Gil Johnson. They would also like to thank the nurses at Gentiva Hospice and Jacqueline Kordsmeier and Marilyn Dail for their loving care.

There will be a rosary St. Joseph Church in Conway at 6pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, with visitation to follow at 6:30pm. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph Church at 10a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016 with Father Tony Robbins as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Joseph Endowment & Charitable Trust, 1315 College Avenue, Conway AR 72034. Online obituary at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com.

God bless you all and keep you surrounded by His love, as I'm sure Anne is.

Humphreys Family... words bring little comfort during this difficult time. Our Heavenly Father, our creator desires and had the ability to undo the effects of death. He promises at Hosea 13:14 to empty the grave of our loved ones from death. Tears and pain of sorrow will be replaced with tears of joy.
May you find a measure of comfort and peace until his promise is realized
