Garin Emerson
Anne (Simon) Garin Emerson, 64, died peacefully Friday, March 16, 2012, at her home in Guerneville, three months after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. Her dedicated husband, Clark, was at her side.
Anne was born April 18, 1947 in San Francisco, the daughter of William and Eleanor Garin. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School in Salinas, Santa Catalina School in Monterey, and University of the Pacific in Stockton. She traveled and worked in France and Switzerland, where she met her Australian husband, Clark. Together they moved to Alameda.
Anne earned her R.N. from Holy Names College and worked for more than 30 years at Alameda Hospital. She received a Masters in Public Administration through USF, and was the Emergency Room Nursing Manager and the ICU Nursing Supervisor at Alameda Hospital before retiring in 2010.
Anne was very creative. She loved gardening and earned a degree in Horticulture from UC Berkeley. She created beautiful quilts, paintings, and needlepoint pillows for family and friends. The whole family miss her clear, practical, medical guidance and sage advice.
Anne is survived by her husband, Clark Emerson; brother, Peter Garin; sisters, Noel Bock, Marian O'Neal, and Desiree Vanoli; stepmother, Bobbie Garin; three nephews and four nieces.
She was preceded in death by both parents, Bill and Eleanor Garin, and her brother, Chip Garin.
Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Arroyo Seco. Please contact family members for details.
Donations can be made in her honor to the Memorial Hospice of Petaluma and North County.
