David Serrano
Miramontes
David Serrano Miramontes, 66, passed away from cancer on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 with the love of his family, peacefully, in the comfort of his home. He was born on October 26, 1944 in Soledad, CA. David was raised in the Salinas Valley and resided in the area all of his life. He graduated from Gonzales High School in 1963 and attended Hartnell College. He was a Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, and continued to proudly serve our country with the National Guard. David worked for the State of California in the Department of Transportation (CalTrans) for 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. David was an avid 49'ers fan. He enjoyed going on walks, playing the Lotto, and collecting coins. He loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart and always made sure they had chips, soda and ice cream. He loved taking drives on River Road, and going to Moss Landing. In his early years, he loved running, especially with his daughter.
He is survived by his daughters; Gena Miramontes with grandson, Marcos Calderon (16 months) of Lancaster, Deanna Miramontes of Pleasanton; daughter-in-law, Denise Miramontes with grandchildren, Desiree (14 years), Israel (11 years), Isabelle (10 years), Rosa (8 years) and Joseph Miramontes (3 years); sisters, Julie Felice and Linda M. Wilson, brother, Robert Miramontes.
He is preceded in death by his son, David Miramontes, Jr. (33 years); brother, William Miramontes (54 years), both his parents, Adolfo (72 years) and Rosie (56 years) Miramontes.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 1pm to 9pm at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, Ca 93905.
A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 2pm at the Healey Mortuary Chapel.
A Cremation will take place.

Daddy.........
I've been waiting all month for your day. As soon as October arrived, and there was that slight change in the weather, I became so nostalgic for times past. We had so many good memories. You, gave them to us. You were the best father we could have had. I just wish that I could've had you around for longer than I did. I wish my chavalios could have grown up with you. So I'll just have to share my memories of you with them, so they will know that their Grandfather was an Outstanding Man. Iwill miss you forever my Daddy. So, so, very much. I love you. Daddy.....I miss you so much, with all of my heart. It's hard to be alone, but now I know how you felt all those years after you lost your mom. And then, all you had we're us, your kids. And you loved us and made us your priority, no one above us.....so what I learned about being a parent I learned from you, and I will love my kids as much, if not more than you lived us, if that is at all possible. I now know how much you loved me.....but it wasn't until I became a parent. I love you Daddy, and I pray you and David are smiling down in us. I/we live you both. Daddy..... I have had the hardest time this last year, accepting that you got sick, and passed away so quickly. You were so young, and there was so much life left for you to live, with us. I'm so sad. I miss you so much. There really was nobody like you. Nobody could compare. Even with your imperfections, you were the most Outstanding Man, and Father, that I could have ever known. Maybe it is because of your strength, that I have been able to get through all that has happend to us. You taught me a lot, Daddy. You taught me to be loyal, kind, conscientious, strong, and to fight for what is right. I miss you Daddy. I love you with all of my heart. Nothing will ever change that. Daddy..... Today is david's birthday, and I know that you are with him. I couldn't help but to think of you two on Sunday when the 49ers were playing. We are very sorry for the loss of your dad. We grew up together and we went to school together. Although we did not see each other often after grauduation, we always considered him a good friend. We regret that we can not be there for his services but we will be thinking of him and his family during this difficult time.
