Sidney Wayne Padgett, 71, of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at his home with his family by his side. Mr. Padgett was born in Grayson County to the late Samuel Sidney and Effie Mae Lanter Padgett. In addition to his parents, Mr. Padgett was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Michelle Renee Padgett.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Nadia Kaye Padgett of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Monica Padgett of Dublin; granddaughter, Marleigh Padgett; brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Bonnie Padgett of Woodlawn; nephew, Jeffrey Padgett of Fairlawn; two great nieces; one great nephew; and special friends, Paul Cocke, Jerry Williams, and Roger and Linda Quesenberry.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Twin County Hospice and Home Health for their wonderful care.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jim Longest officiating. Burial will follow in the Carrico Cemetery in Fries. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Grover King Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 until 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church c/o Treasurer 302 Spring Branch Road, Fancy Gap, VA 24328 or Pipers Gap Rescue Squad P.O. Box 10, Woodlawn, VA 24381.
