Kevin Dean Keith, 68, of New Castle, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 10, 2025. Born on March 17, 1957, in New Castle, Kevin was the son of the late Jack E. and Billie Gay (Frost) Keith.
A proud graduate of Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School, Class of 1975, Kevin went on to attend Indiana University, remaining a lifelong and devoted IU fan. He also cheered passionately for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts – Kevin simply loved sports, whether watching, playing, or talking about them.
During high school, Kevin was a member of the swim team and played football. His passion for athletics was matched by his love of the arts, music, cooking, and nature. A talented cook and gardener, Kevin found joy in nurturing plants and flowers, and his home was always filled with music and creativity.
Kevin spent several years living in St. Louis, Missouri, where he worked as a lab technician at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He retired in 2013 and returned to New Castle to care for his mother, a role he embraced with dedication and love.
In addition to his canine companion, Remi, Kevin is survived by his nieces, Audrey (Darren New II) Keith and Sarah (Robert Rhea III) Keith; great-nieces and nephews, Haley New, Harper New, Grayson Keith-Hardrick, and Darren New III; close cousins, Scott Frost, Sam (Kim) Frost, and Kathy Butler, along with many additional beloved cousins. Kevin also leaves behind his dear friend, Marietta Hicks and sister-in-law, Krista Keith.
In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his partner of 30 years, Kent Smith, and his brothers, Kent Keith and Barry Keith.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at South Mound Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Jack Keith Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Henry County Community Foundation.
