Philomena Cortopassi Obituary
AGE: 92 • Vineland
Philomena "Mamie" Cortopassi (nee Nicastro), 92, of Vineland, NJ passed into the arms of our Lord Jesus and blessed Mother Mary on Saturday evening October 15, 2016 at the Cooper Hospital U.M.C. after a brief illness. Mamie was born & raised on Lake Rd. in Franklin Twp and was a lifelong resident of the Vineland area. She was the last surviving child born to the late Philomena (Torcassi) & Salvatore "Sam" Nicastro and the loving wife of the late Leon Cortopassi who died in 1989.
Mamie was the Manager of the Annette Milinary Store for over 30 yrs. She was known to all family & friends and served & worked in the greatest generation. She had a fond devotion to St. Jude's Foundation. She loved to cook, bake, crafts, decorating and most of all being with her family. She was always concerned for all of her family.
Mamie is survived by her sons; Richard Lee Cortopassi, Gene Raymond Cortopassi & companion Carol Tamburino, 2 grandchildren; Tabitha (Napoleon) Dumo & Andrew (Erin) Cortopassi, step granddaughter; Sabrina (Steve) Thorne, great grandchildren; London, Arthur, Daniel, Abigail & Savino. Christine Profetto, niece & best friend, Claudette mother of Andrew & the late Amanda & Cindy mother of Tabitha. Her longtime friend & companion Frank Donofrio, as well as many other nieces & nephews in the Nicastro/Cortopassi families.
Mamie was also pre deceased by her siblings Katherine Forcinito, Mary Profetto, Lillian & Helen D'Augustine & Mike Nicastro, in-laws Gino & Anna Cortopassi & her granddaughter Amanda Lee Cortopassi.
Relatives & friends will be received on Friday Oct 21st from 9:30-11:00 AM at the Christ the Good Shepherd Parish-Church of St. Isidore's, 1655 Magnolia Rd., Vineland, NJ where her funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery. She greatly loved her Little Angel Amanda Lee and would ask that memorial donations be made to the Amanda Cortopassi Scholarship Fund, Atlanticcare Foundation, 2500 English Creek Ave., Bldg C, Egg Harbor Twp, NJ 08234. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel. I loved Aunt Mamie and will miss her terribly. RIP sweet angel, all the Nicastro sisters are together again.
