Wynn, brothers Gary (Gina) Wynn and Clay (Brenda) Wynn, sister Andrea Buchanan, nephews Chris Buchanan, Tim Wynn, Ian Wynn, and nieces Melissa Jones and Meredith Wynn. Phillip was preceded in death by mother Arnetta Amos Wynn, father Charles Griffith Wynn, and brother David Brickey Wynn. He enjoyed walking in the natural world, and in particular watching swans nesting in local lakes. He cared deeply about peace. It was the foundation of his worldview, his scholarship, writing, and teaching. Phillip was born in Knox County Tennessee. He had a BA in History from the University of Tennessee, MA in Medieval History from the University of Virginia, and MA and PhD in Medieval History from Notre Dame. Awarded a fellowship as a Fulbright scholar in residence at Ben Gurion University in Beersheva, Israel, he was able to further his research on "Just War" theory. Passionate about the future of our government, he was deeply engaged in Democratic Party politics. Phillip will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Hillside Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I just found out about my dear friend Phil whom I saw for many years at the medieval congress in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was always so kind and cheerful, and fun to be with. He was also a very gifted scholar, RIP my good friend
