Thomas King Obituary
Thomas George King
Born: November 26, 1949 | Died: October 20, 2025
Thomas "Tom" George King passed from this life into the eternal on October 20, 2025. He will be remembered as a generous son, brother, and uncle by his sister-in-love Carolyn Fluharty King, brother John King, sister-in-love Carole Marie King, nephews Jeremiah (wife Brandy), Benjamin, Samuel, and Justin King, niece Melissa King-Litschewski (husband Micky), great nephew Elijah King (wife Gracie), and great niece Miah King.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Horace William King Sr. and Anna Daisy King, and by his brother, Horace William King Jr.
Born in Rome, Georgia, raised in Selby-On-The-Bay, Maryland, and a longtime resident of Louisville, Tennessee, Tom lived a life deeply connected to his faith, nature, community, and family. His faith in Christ guided him through his life and was evident in his kindness, humility, and love for others. He found joy in working with plants and tending his garden, and sharing its bounty with those he loved. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, finding peace in the beauty of the woods and water.
Thomas dedicated more than 30 years of service to the Knoxville Utility Board, where he was known for his easy laugh, generous spirit, and endless supply of stories. His colleagues and friends remember him as someone who brightened every day with his humor and good nature.
A devoted son, Thomas lovingly cared for both his parents in their later years, showing the same patience and compassion that defined so much of his life. He also loved working on building projects with his brothers and nephews, where the laughter and camaraderie were just as important as the work itself. A dedicated uncle and great uncle, he treasured every moment spent with his nieces and nephews, whether it was sharing a meal, telling a story, or simply enjoying time together.
Thomas will be remembered for his kindness, humor, hard work, and love for the simple joys of life. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
As we remember Thomas, we take comfort in the words of the 23rd Psalm: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want... He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
A graveside memorial will be held at Holston College Cemetery on Saturday, October 25, at 3:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating and remembering Tom.
