New London - Anthony "Al" Constantine, 81, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., passed away peacefully on Nov. 27, surrounded by his loving family. A native of Connecticut, he moved to Florida in 2002.

He is survived by Jean McIntyre Constantine, his high school sweetheart and wife of 58 years. He is also survived by his four children: Allison Cary of Rowayton, Conn., Chris Constantine of Mexico, Stuart Constantine of Stamford, Conn., Curtis Constantine of Florida, and ten grandchildren. He additionally has three brothers, Larry in Port St. Lucie, Fla., Byron in Texas and Theodore in Waterford, Conn.

He was born in New London, Conn., and graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1962 where he played on the football, wrestling and track teams. After working briefly as a police officer and with the Secret Service, he left law enforcement to work in the financial industry in New York. He had a life long love of sailing, and for many years raced multihulls around the northeast, completing several transatlantic crossings. For twenty years he operated a successful boat manufacturing business based in Norwalk, Conn. He lived in Greenwich, Conn. for thirty years.
