Dorothy Almeida Obituary
Dorothy leaves behind a son Glen Almeida of Uncasville; a sister Joan Gessner and a sister Shirley McGrath both of Uncasville. She is predeceased by sisters, Ruth Overbay and Ginny Romano.
Dorothy was employed as a dental assistant for the late Dr. Lonergan of New London for 10 years. She was an avid athlete in the New London area, playing for Williams Memorial Institute, and earned the Athlete of the Year award in both 1951 and 1952. She excelled in softball and basketball and also enjoyed bowling and golf.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at Fort Shantok Burial Ground. Please visit www.montvilefuneralhome.com to leave on online condolences for Dorothy's family.

Glen, Shirley, and Joan,
My deepest sympathy for your loss. I had the pleasure of taking care of Dot at Fort Hill. She and I had a special bond and friendship. She loved to tell the story of the time I was in the emergency room with her and the lab tech asked if Dot was my mom. She and I laughed and smiled about that often. She was a very special woman to me.
