Mario Simoni Obituary

Montville - Mario Simoni, 89, of Montville, died on Aug. 22, 2006 at his home.

He was born on July 20, 1917 in New York City, the son of Curio and Celestina Simoni.

On April 21, 1941 he was married to Ernestine Garofoli.

He was self employed almost all of his life, first as the owner of the Star Dairy Ice Cream Bar for 15 years, and then as the owner of Simoni's Package Store until his retirement in 1985.

His wife Ernestine predeceased him in 2004. His only son, Robert Simoni Sr., also predeceased him in 1990.

He is survived by his sister, Nicki King, of New London; a daughter-in-law, Loretta Simoni, of Waterford; two grandchildren, Robert Simoni Jr., of Quaker Hill, and spouse, Laura Simoni, and Dana Simoni-Lee, of Salem, and spouse, Peter Lee; and three great-grandchildren, Nicole Lee, Samantha Lee and Anthony Lee.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian faith will be held at St. Johns Church in Uncasville at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of donor's choosing.

The Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London, is in charge of the arrangements.
