Raymond K. Bromberek

Groton - Raymond K. Bromberek, 80, of Groton, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London.

He was born in Santa Monica, Calif., July 14, 1942, the son of Edward and Ruby Moseley Bromberek. He married Loraine Santacroce Oct. 9, 1965. Loraine passed away Aug. 3, 2003. He married Sally Tozier Dec. 16, 2013, and she survives.

Ray served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service for 21 years retiring as a Master Chief. He was the Chief of the Boat for the USS Daniel Webster. After the Navy he worked for Phillips Medical Services as a Technical Instructor. He received his bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University. Ray also had been a substitute teacher in the Groton School System for many years.

He was life member and past Exalted Ruler and Elk of the Year of the Groton Lodge of Elks, a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Besides his wife Sally, he is survived by a daughter, Paula Edwards of Groton; a stepdaughter, Pamela Hartman of Groton; his brother John Bromberek and a sister Bonnie Johnson both of California; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Lisa Church.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, at the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery, Mitchell Street, Groton. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 20, at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames Street. A celebration of his life will be held immediately following the interment at the Groton Lodge of Elks, 700 Shennecossett Road.
