Timothy Teevan Birchall

1972 - 2017

San Francisco, Calif. - With the heaviest of hearts and unbearable sadness, we announce the passing of Timothy Teevan Birchall, 45, of San Francisco, on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017. He lost his short, hard fought battle with cancer on that Sunday afternoon surrounded by the people who loved him.

Tim was born in New London, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, to Louis and Gloria Birchall on June 25, 1972. He graduated from Waterford High School in 1991 where he served as class president for all four years. Upon graduation he moved to Indiana to be with extended family. After a year, he drove out west to California where he made his home. Tim worked as a pre-school teacher for several years in the San Francisco community where he lived and was loved by all of his students and families alike. He was a trained and established psychic, medium and healer as well as a massage therapist with an avid clientele. He was also the creator and owner of RockStar Crystals and Gems in San Francisco.

Tim was preceded in death by his late father, Louis Birchall; and stepfather, Kenneth Smalarz.

He is survived by his mom, Gloria Smalarz of Waterford; his longtime partner, Phillip N. Walker of San Francisco; brothers, Patrick Birchall of Groton and Adam Smalarz of Waterford; along with nephew, Connor Birchall; niece, Brianna Birchall of East Lyme; and niece, Haley Smalarz of Waterford. Tim also leaves a large extension of family and friends in Connecticut, Indiana and California.

Not only did we lose a son, brother, uncle, cousin, partner, teacher and mentor, but one of the most kind and gentle souls anyone has ever met. There are very few people that will touch our lives the way Tim did. His presence was larger than life, his positivity contagious, but what most will remember him by was his huge heart. As we sit and mourn the loss of this incredible human being, I cannot help to think that Tim would want us to celebrate his life. He once said to me during a difficult time the famous words of Dr. Seuss, "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." This is exactly what he would want all of us to do. Don't cry because he's gone, but share stories, keep him alive in our heads and hearts, smile and laugh, and simply enjoy the memories we have of him. We love and miss you, Tim. You were taken away far too soon.

Services will be held at Harkness State Park in Waterford at a later date to be determined by the family.
