Leon Marshall Obituary

Leon Carey Marshall, 72, formerly of Aberdeen, Wash. passed away after a brief illness on November 23, 2012, in Mason, Mich. He was born on March 24, 1940, to Lee and Emanual Cara Marshall in Grants Pass, Ore. He attended A.J. West, Miller Junior High and Weatherwax High School. Lonnie married Kathleen Weber of Aberdeen, S.D. in June 1961 in Montesano. He was employed at the Aberdeen Bowl, at Lambs, and at LeMay in Aberdeen, and practiced bowling during his free time. He became a professional bowler and joined the tour in 1970 and continued on the tour until 1975. At that time the Professional Bowler's Association asked him to be its tournament director for national and international tournaments. He accepted that offer and he and Kathy and their sons, Dan and Chris, moved to Cuyahoya Falls, Ohio which is close to Akron where the PBA is headquartered. For the next ten years, Lon managed PBA tournaments throughout the U.S. and Europe. In the mid-80's, homesick and tired of traveling, Lonnie resigned his position and accepted the director's position at the Royal Scot recreation facility in Lansing, Mich. After Kathy, the love of his life, passed away, he retired in 2005 and moved to Palm Springs, Calif. After three years, he and his little dog Cosmo moved to Mason, Mich. to be with his son Chris. Lon is survived by his sister, Rosemarie of Alhambra, Calif.; his son, Dan of Indio, Calif.; his son, Chris of Mason, Mich.; three granddaughters, Ashley Marshall of Burleson, Texas, Paige Smith of Sonoma Calif., and Arielle Maccio of Indio, Calif.; two grandsons, Rocco and Maverick of Indio, Calif.; and one great-grandson, Dasch of Sonoma, Calif.
